Top Three Reasons to choose our condo at the
Kona Pacific #D522:
-
Location!
-
Location!
-
Location!
-
Ocean View! Less
than a block from ocean
(we did not wish to be “ON” the ocean
with storm waves worrying us or dealing w/
the constant need to clean salt
off the windows.)
(click on photo at right for zoom view off the wrap-around lanai
Master Suite side of the condo; click on boat for further zoom - can
you count how many people are on the boat?
Answer: 8)
-
Hunls
Beach less than two blocks away with new public bathroom/showers
(Perfect sandy beach to watch a sunset, splash in a tide pool, or
take a dip in the sea.)
-
Easy
walking distance to popular weekly luaus, bars, oceanfront
restaurants and coffee shops, shopping, Kona Pier, historical sites, churches,
Farmer's Market, banks, post
office, library, oh! and did I mention tons of shopping options?! :)
Everything within 1 - 8 blocks!
-
Condo
building is a solid cement/steel
structure
(it’s a civil defense building, isn’t that comforting?
Hurricane proof cement and steel - we feel much safer!
Plus it's approx. 65 feet above sea level - out of tsunami
danger. Whew!)
-
High
Speed Internet Access and HP DeskJet
Printer/Scanner/Fax/Copier
(wireless signal is excellent anywhere on both sides - we give
you the password in your confirmation e-mail. However, the
printer/copier is kept on Master Suite side, so if you only book the
Studio side of the condo, let us know beforehand that you'll
want to use the printer, otherwise it'll stay on the Master
Suite side.)
-
Swimming
pool, BBQ grill area, and gardens are meticulously cared for with manager on-site
(brand new elevators, recently updated tile/carpet/paint throughout
complex - very nice!)

-
No
Smoking (Hawaii passed a
statewide ban on smoking in public places, and the Kona Pacific
Condo association further passed a rule restricting smoking
anywhere on the premises - if you are a smoker, this condo is
not gonna be for you, sorry. (You'll need to walk 50 feet
from the parking stalls to the street to light up a ciggy if you
must.) If you are allergic to
cigarette smoke - you'll LOVE it here.
-
Green
Cleaning: The
condo is supplied with organic hand soap, eco-friendly dish soap
and cleaning supplies that are green, green, GREEN. (Note:
we use natural insect repellents inside the condo, and allow the
geckos to run free to chase the odd bug or two (and eat your mac nuts
if you let 'em!), but the outside building is sprayed once a
month on a schedule which they give notice about, so you can
plan a day out on the beach if this affects you.)
-
Gecko
Highway:
We guarantee you'll have fun with the wild geckos who seem to
really enjoy our condo lanais. Put a bit of papaya rind
out there and watch 'em come in for a lick. We've counted
8 at once in view while reading a book on the lounger!

"I hopped
over to the Krupp's condo in March 2009 and had a blast in Hawaii!
My favorite thing was the snorkeling, we actually swam with wild
dolphins and all kinds of fish, turtles, octopus - it was really neat.
(Next time it's the manta rays!) My buddy Shawn and I drove
a rental car around the whole island one day to see the volcano and
Hilo, etc. It was a long drive - what a BIG island! I have
to say that the condo is in the perfect location right in Kailua-Kona.
Everything we could need was located within a short walking distance (-
although we had already rented a car.) One day we rented scooters
which was also really fun! I highly recommend anyone else to stay
at this condo - it was a class act with all the luxuries of king beds,
dishwasher, Jacuzzi whirlpool bathtub, washer/dryer, and the kitchen is
fully stocked with equipment - definitely a "home-away-from-home"!
We enjoyed the pool & BBQ area several times for meals and there was
even a place to rinse dishes in the cabana. It was very, very nice
and we'll be back next year! Thanks for all the recommendations,
Kim & Big John! " -Terry Heller, Pelican Rapids, MN
"The condo was in perfect
condition when we arrived. Heather is wonderful and very helpful.
It's a cute place. Lanai perfect. Central location to
snorkeling and beautiful beaches, PERFECT! Thank you Kim! We
had the best time ever!" --Kathleen Vance, May 2009
"We LOVED that there are 3
bathrooms. We also really liked the 2 king beds - most condo
rentals only had queen beds on VRBO. The lanai is fabulous!
We had plenty of supplies and I found your website to be thorough.
We loved playing Cranium (the board game) that was stored in a drawer
with other games. Thanks for a wonderful
vacation!" ----Jennifer Herringa, December 2009
"Yep, we are gone. We didn't burn
the place down, or have wild parties that will get you evicted
by the complex. Shoot we were hardly there, running all over
the island to have a look. We did a ton of stuff- Volcano,
beaches covering 4 colors of sand, Akaka falls, Mauna Loa Mac
plant, Atsakusa orchid tourist-trap, snorkeled 2 days, did the
Royal Kona luau and visited Don the Beachcombers (YUM!), Kona
brewing company, several coffee places (Kona Joe really had a
great view!), City of Refuge, Paunuluu (butchered that) bakery,
Captain Cook, did the 'Clogger' at Lu lu's, swam at the complex,
and I can't even remember the rest right now.
You condo was wonderful, and my Dad and I want one now. I saw
several in your complex for sale, so I will be busy tracking
down some more info there. It was a great vacation, and the
only things that we made note of to Heather was a bulb out in
one bathroom and a torn sheet. Everything else was perfect. We
cleaned out all our stuff except for a couple of bathroom rolls
and some soda/juice bags that we felt bad about dumping.
Heather may take them to that food charity you mentioned, or it
could be left for the next folks, just seemed like a real waste
to toss them. The dairy, bread, etc, we tossed because that's
just not safe, and if you are familiar with a Kona Brewing
'growler', I left a clean one behind with a note in case there
are other beer drinkers coming up (you were right about the
Pipeline Porter, loved it! Also liked the 'Black Sand Porter'
as well!). I hope that's OK, if not, sorry for the trash.
You had gecko visitors, two different colors, but not THAT many
bugs. The grounds were great, I just can't think of anything
else to heap praise upon, it was a life-long-memory trip and you
folks are super lucky. Thank you very much, I hope I can get
into a position to do this again, and I'll remember your place
first and foremost!"

To
rent a car, or NOT to rent a car . . .
Most guests choose to rent a car during their stay as they wish to
explore the Big Island at their leisure. This is a big island, no
doubt about it. There are several
nation-wide rental car agencies for you to choose from at the KOA (Keahole
Airport). Google your favorite and check out their rates for a
deal.
However,
it is not absolutely necessary to rent a car. You can easily hire an airport
shuttle to taxi you from the airport nine miles to the condo. For
two persons, the average cost is around $30 one-way.

There
is a new $1 (dollar) Trolley Shuttle bus that takes visitors along the
four mile strip of Ali'i Drive for even more shopping and beach stops.

There is also a public bus called the Hele-On which goes all the way
around the island (a full day trip.) FREE

Many
activity companies have their own shuttle vans, so if you choose to go
on the Mauna Kea Summit Adventure, (http://maunakea.com)
for example, they will pick you up at the Buns in the Sun bakery,
next to Long's Drug, Sack 'N Save grocery store.
It's about 7 blocks away.

THINGS TO DO:

Kim &
Big John briefly lived here in 1996-1997 a few miles south of Kailua-Kona in
Captain Cook coffee orchard
country. Living with the natives gave them an opportunity to experience the warm and
generous nature of local folks, and "off the beaten track" local foods and
hangouts. Click on the links at top or
bottom of this page for a list of their favorite
eateries and activities (many NOT on
the normal tourist brochures).
