Lots of places!

Essential oil sources I use commonly for both personal and Aromatherapy Class:

• New Directions Aromatics - bulk oils (by the gallon or quart, plus other raw materials) I use for cleaning products and sauna spritz'.
• Imani Oils- organic french oils from a local distributer friend of mine, Brian Skinness, in Nevis, MN
• Frontier Coop:   They carry the Aura Cacia line of essential oils.   I commonly order 1/3 oz size for re-sale in the lodge because it's easy to tack it onto larger order of 7th generation toilet tissue cases and other resort cleaning products from this Iowa company.   Their customer service is fabulous and you can order direct from them as a non-wholesale customer.
• Young Living Oils  - This company has consistently top-quality educational materials about essential oils.  I personally dislike the multi-level marketing and the hard sales pushing, but their lavender oils are hard to beat anywhere else.   I also appreciate their consistently high-quality frankincense oil (the pricing matches, but you get what you pay for!)  We started using the Thieves multipurpose cleaning solution to clean cabins a few years back: not only does it actually disinfect, it boosts the immune system of our cleaning staff!
• DoTerra is getting more and more popular and I have enjoyed their concentrated oils from guests from whom I've purchased a few samples the last couple of years.
• Darlene & Earl, a couple who are regular vendors at farmer's markets on the Big Island of Hawaii (where we annually visit), create their own unique essential oils and blends on their farm:   http://www.dmedicinewoman.com  (I've carried several of their sprays and lotions and essences in the lodge over the years.   They have unique oils you won't find anywhere else.)

Progesterone Cream --- Found a new source, endorsed by Dr. John Lee and now his family.  Progesterall    (2 oz.  approx. $21 - you can order direct from them)

If you have purchased potions, candles, oils, etc. from the lodge over the years and want to re-order, just e-mail me directly and I'll try to hook you up or let you know if I'll be carrying that product again soon.  :   -- Kim, CWC   (click "Contact Us" below)

Ear Candling is a natural, non-intrusive procedure that may help alleviate the painful effects of chronic headaches or sinus conditions, ear infections, allergies or vertigo, as well as minor hearing loss due to excessive earwax build up.

WHAT ARE EAR CANDLES?

Also called ear cones, ear candles are long, hollow tubes made of wrapped muslin. Ear candles are used for ear wax removal. They are believed by some to help with ear infection and other problems such as blocked ears, sinus headaches and lack of hearing.

Using ear candles is called ear candling. It is generally more comfortable and less expensive than conventional ear cleaning where water or hydrogen peroxide is forced into the ear canal with a ‘squeeze bulb’. (Plus it’s cheaper than a doctor’s visit if you can do it yourself with a partner at home!) Ear candles are considered a folk medicine, and there are art and historical text references of ear candling from various countries around the world including China, Czechoslovakia, Mexico and Italy.

Many people use ear candles once a year or less, but others with chronic ear infection or ear or sinus problems seem to benefit with much more frequent treatments. When using ear candles, the small end of the cone is put into an ear and the other end is lit. As the candle burns, the smoke travels into the ear canal, warming the ear wax in addition to creating a gentle vacuum. This can dislodge the wax or foreign debris and pull it into the ear cone, thus causing ear wax removal. . Ears should not get water in them or be exposed to very loud noises for 24 hours after treatment.

. . . is a science dealing with the principle that there are reflex areas in the hands and feet that correspond directly with all organs, glands and rest of the body.

What will a reflexology session entail? A reflexologist, using only his/her hands, will use specific physical techniques on a client's foot or hand to activate all reflex areas, working within the clients' comfort level. An average session lasts about 50 minutes. It should not cause pain (please inform your reflexologist of any discomfort ALWAYS as it will not only better pinpoint problem areas, but also further your enjoyment).

What will reflexology do for me?

• Reflexology will relieve stress and tension: Most of the medical establishment today links 75% or more of health problems to nervous STRESS. Stress increases hormone levels in the body, decreasing your immune system. When you are tense, your muscles contract, cutting off the supply of blood and oxygen to your cells.
• Reflexology will improve nerve an blood supply and promote the unblocking of nerve impulses: There are over 8000 nerve endings in each foot. In a reflexology session, these nerve endings are activated and relaxed several times. This brings more blood to each cell of your body. The blood carries oxygen to the cells. Studies have shown that disease cannot live in an oxygen rich environment.
• Reflexology will help nature to normalize: It will help your body help heal itself. It will not make any condition more acute, making it a very safe and effective way to better health.

How many reflexology sessions will I need?
Everyone is different. You are the best judge. Many people experience health responses to a session; such as being very tired, or feeling very energized; having the sinuses drain, or having to urinate frequently for a day or two afterwards. (Remember to drink a lot of water, especially after a session to help your body flush the toxins out properly.) These are actually excellent signs that your body is responding to reflexology. You know your body better than anyone else. Listen to it, and let it guide you into taking care of it.

• Increased joint movement
• Joint pain relief from arthritis
• Better sleep
• Better well being
• Increased energy

We've had lots of fun with this new health and well being machine!

Basically a person places their bare feet into a tub of salted water, we wrap a charcoal belt around their waste line that emits infrared heat, then we drop an ionic head into the water and turn on the machine. Within a few moments the water will start turning colors depending on which area of the body is letting toxins release (i.e. if the water turns orange, it generally means that you had lots of toxins in your joints).

It's fun in a rather gross way to see what happens to the foot water in different people, ha! We've seen black water, green, brown, bubbles, foam, greasy stuff on the top - and more. There's a booklet you can read while you're soaking to see which water effects correlate to which body parts.

Precautions:

• People who have battery operated implants (i.e. pace makers) should never have a session
• Anyone who has received an organ transplant should never have a session
• Pregnant women or nursing women should not have a session
• Children younger than 8 years old should not use this
• People who have low blood sugar should eat before their session
• Highly recommended for persons using high quantities of tobacco or alcohol
• Highly recommended for persons with low immunity
• Highly recommended for persons who have high stress
• Highly recommended for persons who use excessive oils for cooking
• Highly recommended for persons with diabetes, hypertension, high blood sugar, rheumatism, or arthritis

Two peeps can do it at the same time to compare water colors and socialize. Ask for special rate if same person chooses to do two sessions during their stay.
